URGENT: New Dates for National Audit Announced

As you may be aware, the delay in the release of the audit paperwork meant that the original first period of the audit, beginning 9th March, could not go ahead. Thus, PSNC, NHS England and NHS Employers have agreed that the national community pharmacy clinical audit on the emergency supply of medicines will now go ahead over two revised audit periods:

Period 1: Monday 23rd March until Sunday 5th April 2015
Period 2: Monday 6th April until Sunday 19th April 2015

The audit was agreed as part of the community pharmacy settlement for 2014/15. The audit documentation has now been published and can be downloaded from: http://psnc.org.uk/contract-it/essential-service-clinical-governance/clinical-audit/national-audit/ and http://www.england.nhs.uk/pharmacy/

Action required

Pharmacy contractors must now undertake the audit over one of the two audit periods and we would appreciate your help on advising your contractors on when their pharmacy team should take part and where to find the necessary paperwork. We suggest that those pharmacy teams who were due to undertake the audit over Easter (now the first period) proceed as previously planned, and that any pharmacy which had been due to undertake the audit this week now do so during the second period.

As it was originally requested that CPNY contractors undertake the audit from the 23rd March, we encourage you to do so, as stated in the above paragraph, taken from the PSNC. However, those contractors that choose not to do the audit over this period MUST complete the audit over the next two consecutive weeks by the end of April.
