Pharmacy Wellbeing Service (PWS)
NHSE&I, CPNY and Community Pharmacy Humber (LPC) have joined up with the award winning Your Health Service, provided by Humber NHS Foundation Teaching Trust, to provide a dedicated Pharmacy Wellbeing Service to all staff and their families who live or work in North Yorkshire, East Riding of Yorkshire, Hull, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.
The pilot has been commissioned for a 6 month period, and will provide 1-1 online support over a period of up to 12 weeks to any member of pharmacy staff (or members of their family) working or living in the above mentioned areas. The service will focus on health and wellbeing issues such as: mental health, wellbeing, physical activity, alcohol consumption, smoking cessation, weight management, and any lifestyle issue that an individual may seek support with.
The service commenced on Monday 19th April 2021 and is available weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Laura Smart (Engagement Officer) at CPNY:
“Traditionally, the community pharmacy workforce has been resilient in the face of a highly pressured working environment but it is time to help ensure this resilience is bolstered and continues through and beyond the pandemic. Pharmacists and their teams go above and beyond to care for their patients but we want to remind them to take the time to think about their own wellbeing, and encourage them to make this a priority by seeking advice/help if and when required.
As such, we wanted to reinforce the message that the health and wellbeing of pharmacy staff is of paramount importance by putting a support mechanism in place. The launch of the Pharmacy Wellbeing Service on 19th April has been well timed to coincide with Stress Awareness month”.
